Next meeting of Nineteenth Century Group

The next meeting of the Nineteenth Century Group will be on Wednesday 4 May, 1-2.30, in room MC0019. The theme will be the rural in the nineteenth century, with brief presentations from Ian Packer, Stephen Hall, and Andrew Jackson. All welcome!

Travel in the Nineteenth Century conference – update

The conference on Travel in the Nineteenth Century at the University of Lincoln will now take place between 13 and 15 July 2011. Registration is now open – go to:

Early bird fees are available till 13 April 2011. In addition there are 3 places left for University of Lincoln staff – contact Kate Hill. The programme will be available from about the beginning of April.

Next meeting of Nineteenth Century Research Group

The next meeting will take place on 21 February 2011 at 5pm in room 3106 (MHT building, University of Lincoln). Stephen Roberts will give a talk entitled ‘ “The Gallant Colonel”: Sibthorp and the Ultra Tory Cause’. All welcome!

There are 5 travel bursaries of £20 for postgraduate students attending the event, provided by funding from the British Association for Victorian Studies. These will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, and priority is given to postgraduates who are already on our membership list. If you want to apply for this, please contact Kate Hill (khill@lincoln.ac.uk) stating your name, affiliation, and how much your travel costs will be.
